"The barn connected to the farmhouse is a gable front style bank barn. The advantage of bank barn included additional storage space in the cellar level for farm equipment and animals. These types of barns became increasingly popular in New England after 1850. Maps of the area show that J. Benson may have owned tha farm in 1892."
